United States Department of State Will Finally Reopen On October 1st, 2024 For Apostille Walk-in Services
Great news.
The United States Department of State has privately announced to apostille agent companies like ours that beginning October 1st, 2024 they will finally (thank the apostille gods) reopen their doors for walk-in services after being closed for over 4 1/2 years!
Since March 2020 (COVID) it has taken the USDOS anywhere between 3-4 weeks at the quickest turnaround time up to 13-14 weeks at the longest turnaround time to issue federal apostille and authentication certificates.
The new U.S Department of State three rules start October 1st, 2024 will be as follows:
- Each apostille services company or apostille agent will only be able to submit 15 documents per day.
- The USDOS working days are now reduced to being open from Monday through Thursday excluding all federal holidays.
- Apostilled or authenticated issued documents can be picked up 7-9 business days after they have been hand-submitted to the U.S Department of State.
We recommend that you wait to mail or email us your federal documents to apostille and authenticate until October 1st, 2024 that way it you don’t have to wait the current 4-5 week turnaround time.
